UKPHR Specialist Portfolio Assessor
Quality assurance is an integral part of UKPHR registration. Both specialist and practitioner retrospective portfolios undergo stringent quality assurance checks to ensure public health professionals are working at a high standard and they are ‘safe pair of hands’. This is essential to ensure UKPHR are upholding their duty of public protection.
UKPHR assessors undertake these important quality assurance checks.
Assessors undertake training sessions facilitated by UKPHR moderators to gain confidence, knowledge and understanding of the roles and to ensure they are carried out to high standards.
UKPHR Specialist assessors are a vital part of the UKPHR team. They assess pre-applications and portfolios from prospective Public Health Specialist applicants who have decided that this is the appropriate registration route for them.
UKPHR’s Specialist Registration by Portfolio Assessment registration has two stages: a pre-application which is assessed by 2 assessors, then if the pre-application is approved the applicant is provided with 18 months in which to collate and submit their portfolio. The portfolio is also assessed by 2 assessors. The portfolio and pre-application do not need to be assessed by the same assessors.
UKPHR staff undertake the administration for the applications and liaise between the applicant and the assessors.
All UKPHR Specialist assessors receive training. Clear guidance is provided, and support is given through buddying, moderation and development sessions. Assessments are presented at and discussed with peers at a monthly Registration Panel where a Moderator is also present.
