FTP Investigations guidance
Once a concern has passed triage, it moves into the investigation stage ā where UKPHR gathers the evidence needed to understand what happened and whether a registrant’s fitness to practise may be impaired. This guidance explains how that process works.
Investigation is a fact-finding process, not a punitive one. Our aim is to establish the facts fairly and proportionately, gather a balanced range of evidence from all relevant parties, and assess whether there’s a real prospect that a Fitness to Practise Panel could find impairment established.
The guidance explains what evidence we gather and why, how registrants and others are kept informed, and the range of outcomes available once an investigation concludes ā from no further action through to referral to a Fitness to Practise Panel hearing.
