David Evans
David is Emeritus Professor in the Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing at the University of the West of England (UWE). His interests focus on public health leadership, public health workforce development, the history of public health and public involvement in public health. David is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and sits on the Faculty Workforce Committee.
While at UWE David was for many years an academic supervisor on the South West Public Health Training Programme for public health registrars and taught on the UWE MSc Public Health.
Prior to joining UWE Bristol, David was one of the first English directors of public health from a background other than medicine. In the late 1990s and early 2000s he was part of the movement to develop public health in the UK as a multidisciplinary profession.
