Chris Emmerson
Chris is a Consultant in Public Health with Public Health Wales, where he leads the national Tobacco, Vapes and Nicotine Addiction Programme. This role gives him opportunities to engage with public health practitioners across the spectrum of activities, from strategic leaders to those delivering public health services. Prior to working in public health, he worked in front line substance misuse and homelessness in London and Cardiff.
Chris first joined the UKPHR register as a practitioner in 2015, subsequently acting as mentor, assessor and verifier in Wales. He holds an Honorary Tutor post at Cardiff University and has been a placement supervisor on the Public Health Training Programme in Wales. He has particular interests in how practitioners can work most effectively within complex public health systems and in how the public health workforce can adapt and develop to make the most of digital tools and interventions.
