FTP Sanctions policy
Where a Fitness to Practise Panel finds that a registrant’s fitness to practise is impaired, it must decide what sanction, if any, to impose. This policy explains the range of sanctions available and the principles that guide the panel’s decision.
Sanctions exist to protect the public and maintain confidence in the profession, and, where appropriate, to support a registrant’s safe return to practice. Panels must act proportionately, starting from the least restrictive option and imposing no greater restriction than the public interest requires.
The policy sets out each sanction in turn — from taking no further action through to erasure from the register — along with how restoration works for registrants who have been erased, and what happens once a sanction is imposed.
