UK Public Health Register seeks contractor to help with first revision of practitioner registration standards

UKPHR is inviting tenders for a piece of work to assist its task & finish group revise standards, guidance and processes in relation to practitioner registration.

The successful contractor’s role will be to produce evidence-informed recommendations outlining the options available to the task & finish group bring its standards and guidance for practitioner registration into alignment with developments in public health practice and practitioner registration since 2011 when practitioner registration commenced.

The need for this review arises for a number of reasons including:

• UKPHR’s learning from the first 5 years of operation of practitioner registration in the UK, including from a series of evaluation reports
• The task and finish group has identified a need for help in reviewing developments, evidence and in particular the “deep dive” study commissioned by Health Education England
• The review of the Public Health Skills & Knowledge Framework and other developments in practice in the 4 nations of the UK

Chair of UKPHR’s task & finish group, Professor Susan Powell says:

“Two key measures of success for UKPHR’s Board will be that any new arrangements for practitioner registration will be both equitable across the UK in terms of access to registration and robust in maintaining high standards of competence within the core public health workforce.”

“The task & finish group looks forward to working with the successful bidder in order to create a set of recommendations to improve practitioner registration further for consideration by UKPHR’s Board in due course.”
