How to apply for specialist registration
There are three routes to gaining specialist registration with UKPHR. They differ in the time it takes from application to admission to the Register.
Training route
Applicants may apply for UKPHR specialist registration upon completion of public health specialty training via the Faculty of Public Health Specialty Training programme.
Specialist Registration by Portfolio Assessment
This retrospective registration route requires an initial pre-application which is assessed before applicants are informed whether they have been approved to submit a full portfolio.
Applicants who apply via this registration route are expected to be working at the level of a newly-qualified Consultant in Public Health at the point of submitting their pre-application.
Dual registration
Dual UKPHR registration is available for those who are already on the public health specialty register of either the General Medical Council or General Dental Council. This is an optional registration.
